Cities and Water Governance |

Globalization has changed approaches to water governance and management. Evolving management models are characterized by the participation of new global actors, including large, and in some cases multinational, urban services companies and new governmental, private, and hybrid institutions. Furthermore, grass-roots organizations are playing major roles in reframing ideas and creating new power relationships. Close examination of these evolving governance strategies is crucial for advancing sustainable and realistic solutions to the water crisis.
The Buenos Aires Water Concession (1993-2005) serves as an international example, providing us with a specific opportunity to examine corporate governance in terms of telescoping local and global strategies. Main studies include:
