CNRS Research Networks

As an architect and geographer working at the CNRS in France, Dr. Schneier-Madanes is deeply engaged in the development of research networks in France – “rés-eau-ville” – and at the international level - Wat-Cit-Ter. This last activity led to the founding of the first CNRS Social sciences UMI Unité Mixte Internationale (Joint International research Unit) at the University of Arizona.

“rés-eau-ville” – Groupement De Recherche (GDR 2524)
Urban Water Research Network, a research network within the INSHS

Dr. Schneier-Madanes, director of rés-eau-ville, has been leading this effort since 2002, bringing colleagues from diverse backgrounds together to integrate their approaches to water research. The framework developed by “rés-eau-ville” has proven to be a model for emerging studies, suggesting future comparison and connecting with academic institutions, policy makers, managers, associations, and NGOs.
